Makkah alliance to activate 'collective deterrence', Saudi Arabia's minister of defence announces Saudi Minister of Defence Prince Khaled bin Salman announced that the Makkah alliance will activate "collective deterrence" amid the current escalation with the Houthis in Yemen, following an emergency meeting of the alliance's Strategic Political and Defence Committee in Riyadh. The meeting "reaffirmed the solidarity and unity of our countries in confronting the heinous attacks against the Kingdom and the holy sites", the statement added.
